Product-Market Fit Diagnostic
A structured assessment of how well your product is aligned to current market need — and where that misalignment is costing you win rate, deal size, and sales cycle efficiency.
RIO calculates your Revenue Velocity Score (RVS) from four diagnostic dimensions, each carrying equal weight at 25%. Product-Market Fit measures how well your product is aligned to current market need — and where that misalignment is costing you win rate, deal size, and sales cycle efficiency. The Product-Market Fit Diagnostic produces a PMF Score (0–100) that reflects how well your product is positioned to win in the current market.

The composite score RIO produces — built from four diagnostic dimensions, each weighted equally at 25%
One of four equally-weighted RVS dimensions at 25% — scored 0–100 based on four sub-dimensions of market alignment
Four dimensions. One aggregate score.
The Product-Market Fit Diagnostic measures alignment across four sub-dimensions using a combination of buyer research, competitive analysis, and product usage data. Each sub-dimension is scored 0–10. The four scores are averaged equally to produce the PMF Aggregate Score — which becomes the Product-Market Fit Score in your RVS.
Problem-Solution Alignment
The degree to which your product solves the specific problems buyers are actively trying to solve — measured against how buyers describe their own priorities, not how you describe your solution.
Competitive Differentiation
The strength and defensibility of your product's differentiation against the alternatives buyers are actively evaluating — including the 'do nothing' option.
Value-to-Price Perception
Whether buyers perceive your product as delivering sufficient value relative to its price — distinct from whether your price is competitive. A product can be priced below market and still fail this test if perceived value is low.
Adoption & Expansion Readiness
The degree to which your product is structured to drive deep adoption and natural expansion within accounts — including onboarding clarity, time-to-value, and the presence of logical upsell and cross-sell paths.
From four dimensions to one RVS score.
PMF Aggregate Score = Average of all four sub-dimension scores (0–10) × 10 = PMF Score (0–100)
The Product-Market Fit Score carries 25% weight in your overall Revenue Velocity Score — equal to each of the other three diagnostic pillars.
Product is well-aligned to market need — protect positioning and invest in expansion
Above average alignment — targeted messaging or feature investment can push to leadership
Meaningful gaps in alignment — active repositioning or product investment required
Significant misalignment — a primary driver of lost deals and compressed win rates
Product is not solving the right problem for the right market — structural intervention required
You vs. the competition.
The Product-Market Fit Diagnostic benchmarks your product against up to four named competitors on the same four sub-dimensions — using buyer perception data, not internal assessments. This gives you an objective view of where your product leads, where it trails, and where the market sees no meaningful difference.
